After a slew of minimal fits, it feels great to get back to wearing a shirt and tie combo in suit separates. took a classic grey on grey combo and gave it a nice pop of subtle boldness with a mustard tie. Continue Reading
I have been gravitating to more classic and easy fits (although I do miss a good shirt and tie combo, hitting the page soon!!). It’s important to have classic fits that are not just versatile but easy to throw on at any given moment. Step in the color black…
It is finally beginning to feel like fall in LA… we even got some rain this week! As the days and nights get cooler, its time to start thinking about the pieces that can be easily layered to keep you extra warm. As you know, I am all about versatility in clothes. It’s important to wear an outfit that can easily go from work day to late night drinks with minor changes.
Every fall/winter season, there is always a color combination that calls to me. This season, I am drawn to various combinations of brown and blue. It is a refined and polished combo yet feels fresh and modern. The way that both colors complement each other yet somehow seem to stand out on their own makes it a great choice. Of course, for the colder season, going with darker variations of these two colors will be on par with the season vibes.
Another winner?? LAYERING. Wearing layers that are light but effective will keep you warm when you need it. I prefer a nice classic scarf with a subtle yet bold print like this solid color block version (found HERE) or a great fedora to set you apart on the busy streets. Of course, you can’t forget the ultimate must-have: a sweater. The subtle detailing throughout, like the ribbed collar and centre front button and concealed zip closure make it a true modern classic.
Last but not least, I am digging the revival of a clean and classic black shoe (specifically anything in the form of a chelsea like THESE from Rodd and Gunn). A sleek version of any shoe in black is timeless and classic and is the perfect balance for fall color combos. I can easily say most of my favorite shoes this season will be those in black (a separate blogpost on that to follow)
As fall soon approaches, its time to bring out the essential outerwear and a must-have in every man’s closet is a classic clean knit shawl collar popover and this one by Express is just perfect. Consider it your grown man’s sweatshirt that instantly elevates any fit and gives it an effortless yet laid back cool vibe. Facing the cold weather means staying as comfortable and as warming up as easy as possible. Continue Reading
This past Saturday, I had the honor to join Veuve Cliquot at the seventh annual Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic, Los Angeles. It was an exciting afternoon of polo viewing and picknicking all while enjoying a glass of champagne, of course! Continue Reading
One of my favorite things to do (and “rule of thumbs” wink wink) is mixing and matching various pieces. And by that, I don’t just mean breaking up your suits (although, that is always a great thing to do!). I mean mixing bold patterns with classic solids or taking a classic blazer and pairing it with a great shirt. Mixing and matching not only creates a unique look, it allows for pieces in your closet to be multifunctional.
Those awkward weeks (for some, months) between summer and fall always leaves me confused as to whether to start layering, wear socks, skip the jacket… you catch my drift. I decided to show you all a fit I would consider a “transition to fall” look.
One of my all time favorite holidays has always been Labor Day. Why? Because it’s a three day weekend in late summer with just the right amount of heat and sun that make the days feel that much nicer. This past weekend was nothing short of that hanging with some of the coolest guys I know; Blake, Ty, and Perkens.
Summers in LA are the best excuse (and perfect weather) to wear white denim. One of my favorite looks has always been the denim and blazer combo. It works perfectly well for the office or for a casual day about the city. While the white denim is bold, the blazer gives it that classic feel that creates a nice balance.
Growing up, I always admired the idea of dressing up with a purpose… there’s a sense of nostalgia and it’s nice to uphold certain traditions that make up a heritage. That’s what the racetrack always signified to me, a place where dapper gentlemen suited up and donned their “Sunday best”. It is only befitting that Crosby Square honored the racetrack tradition as they are a heritage brand themselves. Made up of classic and dapper designs, their shoes are what I call “lifetime timeless” shoes. They will never go out of style and only get better with time. Continue Reading
